Video: Daniel Cormier invites Brock Lesnar to bring the Universal Title to UFC

Daniel Cormier successfully defended his UFC Heavyweight Championship on Saturday night at UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden live on Pay Per View.

Cormier, who was initially expected to make his first title defense against Brock Lesnar, was instead booked into a title defense against Derrick Lewis. Cormier defeated Lewis on Saturday night in the second round via rear naked choke.

Following the end of the fight, UFC commentator Joe Rogan brought up how current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar will likely be Cormier’s next challenge in the UFC.

Cormier, with a smile on his face, invited Lesnar to bring that “brand new WWE Title” because he also felt like being a WWE Champion too.

If you recall, it was reported recently that Cormier had to push back an originally scheduled tryout with WWE for a potential commentary role due to his fight camp for UFC 230.

Lesnar officially re-entered the USADA testing pool this past summer and has been tested six times by the organization. He is expected to make his return to the UFC some time in 2019, with Cormier being his likely opponent unless plans change.

It should be noted that at the close of UFC 230 on Saturday night, an on-air discussion took place involving Joe Rogan, Jon Anik and Paul Felder about if things like this are actually good for the sport in having talent like Lesnar return and blur the lines as he continues working for WWE. While everyone admitted it brings attention to the sport, it might be blurring the lines for some that want the sport taken more seriously.
