According to a new report from Sean Ross Sapp at Fighful.com, NXT color commentator Percy Watson (real name Nicholas McNeil) has told many that he isn’t planning on working for WWE any longer.
Also according to the same report, Watson’s departure had been in the works for some time, but was unable to pursue any outside projects due to his WWE schedule.
We had previously reported that at the 5/1 TV Tapings Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix came out at the start of the show replacing Watson on the commentary team.
As of this report there is no confirmation if Watson is still under contract with WWE or when his contract is set to expire.
Watson signed a developmental contract with WWE in 2009 with Florida Championship Wrestling under his real name. Later that year he was re-introduced as Percy Watson, teaming up with Darren Young as the South Party Beach Boys.
Watson participated in the second season of NXT and was released from his WWE contract in May 2013. He returned to WWE at the November 30, 2016 NXT taping as the third man in the broadcast booth joining Tom Phillips and Corey Graves.
