First-ever women’s match in Saudi Arabia to take place at WWE Crown Jewel tomorrow

Natalya vs. Lacey Evans

Natalya and Lacey Evans are set to make history in Saudi Arabia tomorrow.

Announced during the WWE Crown Jewel media event today, Natalya and Lacey Evans will compete in the first-ever women’s match in Saudi Arabia at WWE Crown Jewel.

This is the fourth show in the second year of a 10-year deal with the Saudi Arabian government, which began with WWE Greatest Royal Rumble in 2018.

The deal has been met with controversy throughout, particularly when it comes to the country’s stance on women’s rights. WWE wanted Natalya and Alexa Bliss to have a match at WWE Super ShowDown earlier this year, but the match was ultimately not approved by the Saudi Arabian government.

WWE also faced heavy criticism from media and politicians last year for going through with WWE Crown Jewel in the wake of the murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi by the Saudi Arabia government.
