WWE issues statement on travel delays in Saudi Arabia, SmackDown to have surprises

WWE statement

WWE has issued a statement about the travel woes facing the WWE Superstars trying to leave Saudi Arabia following Crown Jewel.

According to the statement, 175 WWE Superstars, production crew, and employees boarded a charter flight to the United States on Thursday. Due to several aircraft problems, including mechanical issues, the passengers sat on the tarmac for six hours.

Also, due to unforeseen circumstances, the superstars that attempted to fly out to get to the show (the rumored 12 that had reportedly left) will not land until after SmackDown airs on FOX. The remainder of the crew will depart Saudi Arabia later tonight.

WWE is stating that the show will go on. SmackDown will feature superstars such as Daniel Bryan, The Miz, Carmella, Nikki Cross, and Dana Brooke, as well as some additional surprises.

We will have live coverage of SmackDown beginning at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 Central.
