WWE cancels SmackDown in Detroit this Friday, will hold event in the Performance Center

SmackDown canceled this Friday

As news of the far reaching effects of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to come, PWInsider and other sources are reporting WWE has decided to cancel this Friday’s taping of SmackDown from the Little Caesar’s Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

SmackDown and 205 Live will instead be held in the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida this Friday. An official release from WWE on the situation is expected to be issued soon.

The decision was said to be made this afternoon in light of the coronavirus pandemic. There is no word on the statuses of weekend WWE and NXT Live Events or Monday Night Raw, which is scheduled to take place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Earlier tonight, the United States announced the suspension of all travel from Europe, excluding Great Britain, for the next 30 days. Tomorrow, Tampa officials will be meeting to determine the status of large scale events, which would include WrestleMania, which is to take place on April 5.

We will continue to follow this story as more becomes available.
