The XFL shuts down the remainder of their season in response to Coronavirus pandemic

XFL shuts down rest of season

XFL has become the latest sports league to shut down due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Currently, the XFL will not be playing its regular-season games. However, all players will be paid their base pay and benefits for the 2020 regular season. All XFL ticket holders will be issued refunds or credit toward future games. The XFL is committed to playing a full season in 2021 and future years.”

The Vince McMahon owned football league had played half a season so far. The league stated their commitment to playing a full season in 2021 and beyond.

Ratings for the reincarnation of the failed 2001 league were promising for the first two weeks before leveling off. All XFL ticket holders can receive refunds or credits for future games.

The XFL joins the NBA, NHL, MLB, and NCAA, as well as other entertainment ventures, that have suspended operations due to the pandemic.
