Shad Gaspard, who was one-half of the tag team Cryme Tyme, has gone missing after swimming in the ocean at Venice Beach on Sunday.
According to TMZ Sports, Gaspard, 39, was swimming with his 10 year old son in the ocean when, along with a group of swimmers, they were caught in a rip tide. Lifeguards ran into the ocean to pull the swimmers out. Gaspard’s son was rescued, but Gaspard has not been located.
The L.A. Fire Department, which responded to the scene, believes Gaspard did submerge after a big wave hit him. Divers are combing the area and helicopters have been called in. During the rescue, Gaspard is said to have directed lifeguards to get his son first.
Gaspard was with WWE from 2006 to 2010, though he and his partner JTG were briefly released in 2007.
