Following tonight’s episode of WWE NXT, another competitor has been added to the Ladder Match for the NXT North American Championship at NXT TakeOver XXX on August 22.
Dexter Lumis won a triple threat match by defeating Finn Bálor and Timothy Thatcher to earn the opportunity. Thatcher had Bálor in an ankle lock when Lumis snuck up behind and applied the Kata Gatame for the submission.
Lumis joins Bronson Reed in the Ladder Match. Three spots remain in the match. Last week on NXT, Keith Lee vacated the NXT North American Championship to create more opportunities for the NXT roster.
Three matches set for next week’s WWE NXT episode
Three matches have been announced for the August 5 episode of WWE NXT, including a title match.
— NXT Tag Team Championship: Imperium (c’s) vs. Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly
— Triple Threat Match: Damian Priest vs. Oney Lorcan vs. Ridge Holland; the winner enters into the Ladder Match for the vacant NXT North American Championship at NXT TakeOver XXX
— #1 Contender’s Match for the NXT Women’s Championship: Rhea Ripley vs. Dakota Kai
The NXT Tag Team Championship match will feature the return of Kyle O’Reilly to in-ring action. O’Reilly, who has diabetes that puts him in the high risk category for COVID-19, has not performed since the week before the pandemic really began on the March 11 NXT.
Ridge Holland appears on the NXT UK brand and will be competing in the Triple Threat Match.
