WWE reportedly quarantines NXT talent and staff, halts training at the Performance Center

NXT dealing with COVID-19 outbreak

Earlier this week, we reported that the WWE NXT tapings were impacted by a number of positive COVID-19 tests.

PWInsider is reporting that WWE is dealing with a full blown COVID-19 outbreak. All training at the WWE Performance Center was canceled today with no return date announced.

The report states an NXT talent threw a party that was attended by a number of trainees, leading to asymptomatic transmission of COVID-19. The virus spread among those that work and train at the Performance Center, including to the staff trainers.

WWE has commented on the positive COVID-19 tests, saying:

“As part of ongoing testing protocols, WWE completed its second round of weekly COVID-19 testing on Tuesday. Individuals that tested positive will quarantine for 14 days, receive medical care, and then will only be cleared when they are symptom-free and test negative. Additionally, extensive contact tracing has taken place and other individuals have been placed in 14-day quarantine, and will then only be cleared after they test negative.”

WWE did not confirm how many individuals were affected and HIPPA laws prevent them from releasing names. Chelsea Green came forward earlier today announcing that she had COVID-19 and had recovered from it.

Due to the rash of positive tests, WWE advised all NXT talents to go into self-quarantine to prevent further infection. The positive tests impacted the WWE NXT tapings, leading to a lot of rewrites. The company taped last night’s show and next Wednesday’s show on the same day. The next scheduled taping is on October 4 for NXT TakeOver 31.

Furthermore, as a safeguard, talent and staff working at the Performance Center or the WWE NXT tapings will not be allowed to attend the Raw and SmackDown tapings at the Amway Center until further notice.

There is a fear that the masked members of RETRIBUTION that appeared on this past Monday’s Raw, all members of the Performance Center, could have been asymptomatic and cross-contaminated the virus with the Raw roster. There have been no reports as of this writing that anyone on the Raw roster has been affected by a positive COVID-19 test.

We will continue to follow this story as more becomes available.
