Sonya Deville makes a surprise return to WWE on Friday Night SmackDown

Sonya Deville returns to WWE

During tonight’s live New Year’s live edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Sonya Deville made her return to the company.

In a backstage segment, Deville was shown walking backstage at Tropicana Field.  It was later said, on the show, by Corey Graves on commentary that Deville has been reinstated, and is once again a member of the WWE roster.

Deville has been off television since she lost the No Disqualification Loser Leaves WWE Match to Mandy Rose at Summer Slam last August.

Deville (real name Daria Berenato) was the victim of a stalking incident last summer.

On the night of August 15, 2020, Phillip A. Thomas II, 24, who had stalking Berenato for years arrived at her house around midnight.  He then cut a hole in the patio screen and remained on the patio for a number of hours watching and listening through the windows. At 2:43 am, after Berenato had gone to bed, he then entered the home through the sliding door, activating the alarm.  It was later said that Thomas had planned to kidnap Berenato.

Thomas remains in prison without bail after he was determined to be a threat. A hearing was set for November 12, 2020.  There have been updates on the status of that hearing.
