Details on Cain Velasquez’s arrest for attempted murder, arraignment scheduled for Wednesday

Various media outlets have been reporting that former WWE Superstar and former UFC Champion Cain Velasquez is scheduled to be arraigned on charges of attempted murder tomorrow in San Jose, CA.

Several news sources reported that Velasquez was involved in a shooting near San Jose, CA on Monday. Reports indicate the shooting happened around 3:14 pm local time, in Morgan Hill, near Monterey Highway and Bailey Avenue.

TMZ Sports is reporting that Velasquez has been arrested and booked on an attempted murder charge. Jail records indicate Velasquez is being held with no bond, at the main Santa Clara County jail facility on West Hedding Street. His court date is scheduled for Wednesday at 12:00 pm local time.

A new report from Mercury News indicates that Velasquez shot at a man who was recently charged with molesting a close family member. The report notes that Velasquez allegedly shot and injured the stepfather of Harry Eugene Goularte. It was stated that Goularte has been charged with molesting Velasquez’s family member at a home daycare in San Martin, California that is run by Goularte’s mother. The report further notes Goularte was arraigned last Friday with one felony count of a lewd and lascivious act with a child under the age of 14. The judge granted Goularte a supervised release, despite objections that were made by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office.

Mercury News also states that at around 3:15 pm local time on Monday, February 28, 2022 Velasquez allegedly opened fire at a vehicle carrying Goularte, his stepfather, and at least one other individual. It was said the stepfather was hit once. He is expected to survive.

Cain was set to work the 2020 Royal Rumble. However, he missed the event due to an injury. WWE released him back on April 28, 2020.
