The following took place on Tuesday in Charlotte, North Carolina.
WWE Smackdown for April 8, 2011:
* Alberto Del Rio opened the show complaining about the result of his match with Edge at Wrestlemania, vowing revenge. Edge came out in a tow truck with Del Rio’s car all messed up. Teddy Long announced Del Rio vs. Christian tonight where the winner earns at shot at Edge’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a ladder match (assuming at the Extreme Rules PPV).
* Kane, Big Show, Kofi Kingston and Santino def. The Corre via DQ in a 2 out of 3 falls match.
* Cody Rhodes def. Trent Barretta.
* Beth Phoenix and Kelly Kelly def. Laycool. McCool blamed Layla for them losing.
* Michael Cole and Jack Swagger promo. Cole talked about being undefeated at Wrestlemania. Sin Cara ran out and attacked Swagger.
* Backstage, Layla tells McCool she has signed them up for couples therapy.
* Alberto Del Rio def. Christian to earn a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
