Latest on WWE Hall of Famer Tammy Sytch’s criminal proceedings

According a report by PWInsider, the public defender representing Tammy Sytch in her criminal proceedings in the state of Florida filed a motion asking, once again, for Sytch’s next-scheduled pre-trial hearing to be pushed back.

The motion reads as follows:

MOTION FOR CONTINUANCE

Under Fla.R.Crim.P.3.190(f), defendant, Tamara Lynn Sytch, moves for a continuance of the trial on the following grounds:

1. The defendant in this case is currently charged by Information with one count of DUI Manslaughter, one count of DWLS with Death and six counts of misdemeanor DUI.

2. Depositions are currently scheduled in this matter through January 5, 2023. Deposition requests regarding the setting of additional witnesses are currently pending.

3. Additional time is needed to prepare this case for trial.

4. The defendant previously waived her right to speedy trial.

5. Defense counsel would request that the next PreTrial Conference be scheduled in February 2023.

6. Assistant State Attorney Ashley Terwilleger has been contacted and does not object to the granting of this motion.

7. This motion is made in good faith and not for purposes of delay.

As of this writing, the court has not yet ruled on the motion.

Sytch has been charged one count of DUI causing death (DUI Manslaughter, a felony in the third degree), one count of causing death while operating a vehicle with a suspended or revoked driver’s license (a felony in the third degree), four counts of DUI causing injury to a person, and three counts of DUI causing damage to property following the death of 75-year old Julian Lasseter this past March during a traffic accident in Ormond Beach, Florida.

It was also noted that court records show depositions of four police officers involved in Sytch’s case were taken back on November 15.

The report also notes the further that court records indicate that this back in August Sytch waived her right to a speedy trial “arising out of the criminal episode made the subject of this prosecution; specifically, the right to be tried within 175 days of her being taken into custody as provided by law and Rule 3.191, Florida Rules of Criminal Procedure.”  At the time, Sytch was given “criminal indigent status”, meaning that since she is without sufficient income to afford a lawyer for defense in her criminal case.

Furthermore, Sytch and her fiance James Pente are also being sued in civil court by the family of Julian Lasseter.  That case is currently pending and there have been no major updates to the court records for that lawsuit.

PWInsider’s report concluded by noting that someone claiming to represent Sytch has been soliciting bookings for her with promoters for December and and next year.  Given the latest court filing, there is no way Sytch could actually fulfill any bookings as she remains incarcerated without bail.
