According to an exclusive report from Cultoholic, former WWE Superstar Matt Riddle no- showed a charity event this past Sunday in Barnsley, England. The show, put on by Global Wrestling Kingdom, was a fund-raising event to support survivors of domestic abuse and homeless veterans.
The report also notes, Riddle “ripped off” the show, as he never traveled to the United Kingdom and still has not returned the deposit paid to him by the promotion. Riddle was booked to face Simon Miller at the event. Grado was replaced by Riddle, having wrestled Miller instead.
Cultaholic further notes that through his manager several months ago, Riddle expressed concerns about his flight, having claimed it was cheap and also not being happy about having to be stuck in a hotel room for two days.
It was added that after Riddle had stated his concerns, the promotion made attempts to organize pro wrestling seminars for Riddle to take part in so he could make some extra money during his stay in the United Kingdom, but could not finalize seminars on such a short notice. It was said Riddle did not cancel his booking, and a driver was left waiting several hours for the him to arrive.
Cultaholic says that GWK received a response from Riddle indicating that he had accepted another booking, but would still potentially make it to the event. However, it was also said in relation to this, Riddle did not open any of future messages about his status for the event.
Sources indicate that Riddle’s absence from the event resulted in the promotion having to issue refunds for scheduled meet-and-greets.
He also had no Riddle no-showed a Championship Wrestling from Memphis event this past January and notifed the promotion the day of the show he would not be able to make it. He instead attended Nick Hogan’s wedding which was the same day.
Riddle, who is the current MLW World Heavyweight Champion was released from WWE back in September 2023, following an incident at JFK Airport, where he was drunk getting off the plane, shouting at passengers.
