More details on John Cena undergoing surgery this week

WWE.com has provided new details regarding John Cena undergoing surgery on his right shoulder this week in Birmingham at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.

Dr. Jeffrey Dugas, who performed the surgery, revealed that Cena had a complete tear of a small portion of the rear rotator cuff tendon and a loose tissue that required removing.

WWE has yet to officially announce how long Cena will be out of action and that he will begin working on range of motion before putting weight on his shoulder.

Dr. Dugas noted the importance of healing right now for Cena.

“The first hurdle is getting the cuts to heal and getting cartilage to form over the defect. After that, we’ll get back to function.”
