“Then. Now. Forever. Together.” The WWE video leads us into the show.

Tonight, we’ll see Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn face Damian Priest and “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio of the Judgment Day in a non-title match. In another non-title match, WWE Intercontinental Champion Gunther will face Matt Riddle. Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser are banned from ringside. Finally, in a title match, Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan will defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville.

“Wrestling has more than one royal family.”

“The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes makes his way to the ring to a HUGE ovation. Rhodes is in his ring gear. In the same town that WCW was headquartered in, where his father sometimes played a huge role, this is very much a homecoming of sorts for Rhodes. Rhodes gets in the ring and looks humbled by the reaction. With tears in his eyes, Rhodes looks to the Atlanta crowd and poses for them.

Rhodes says, “So, Atlanta, my home… what do you guys want to talk about?” They really don’t have to talk because there’s a large shadow that looms over this sold-out State Farm Arena. It’s the same shadow that looms over every arena we go to. We’re talking, of course, about Brock Lesnar. The crowd boos Lesnar’s name. One thing is for sure when Brock Lesnar’s card is called, he shows up. They don’t have to talk. Brock Lesnar should come to this ring and accept his challenge for SummerSlam. Rhodes says, “You heard ’em, Brock. Get out here right now!” The crowd cheers.

Rhodes waits for Lesnar to come out, but his music doesn’t play. The crowd begins to boo. Rhodes looks frustrated. Brock Lesnar is apparently here tonight, but this is his M.O. He’ll be fashionably late tonight. If that’s the plan to show up at 9 o’clock, he’ll be waiting in the ring for him. Even if it’s 10 o’clock, he’ll be in the ring waiting for him. If Lesnar waits until the end of the night, he’ll be in this ring waiting for him. A “Cody” chant picks up.

Rhodes says he would be remiss if he didn’t bring this up. This is the house that built him, but they may not know that the woman who built him is in the front row. Rhodes is overcome with emotion as he introduces Michelle Rhodes, his mother, at ringside. There’s a reason his catchphrase isn’t “Let’s get funky like a monkey.” Rhodes wishes he could do it like his father, but the one that taught him to get up out of the mud and how to be a fighter is his mother. His mother looks very emotional.

His relationship with Brock Lesnar is complex and only two words can describe it. They’re not two words that he uses frequently, but the only two that fit his relationship with Lesnar is “Hard Times.” That’s ok. When Lesnar shows up tonight, it won’t be hard times for him in his home state in front of his crowd. It’ll be hard times for Lesnar. Rhodes tells the crowd to enjoy Monday Night Raw. Rhodes gets out of the ring and embraces his family.

All of a sudden… Brock Lesnar’s music hits! Rhodes goes to the foot of the ramp and prepares to fight. Lesnar doesn’t come out, and Rhodes nods in frustration. Rhodes cautiously heads up the ramp before turning to the crowd.

Lesnar’s music hits again, and Rhodes waits for him to come out. Still, there is no Lesnar. Rhodes charges backstage. All of a sudden, a chair flies out of the Gorilla Position. Brock Lesnar shoves Rhodes back onto the stage and smashes the chair off his back! Lesnar bends the chair over Rhodes’s back and throws him into the apron. Lesnar sends Rhodes into the ring post before hoisting him up. Lesnar, in front of Michelle Rhodes, gives Cody an F5 on the floor! Lesnar smiles at Rhodes’s family and applies a Kimura Lock, the same move that fractured Cody’s arm months ago.

Lesnar releases the hold and sends Rhodes into the ring. Michelle Rhodes shouts, “You suck,” at Brock Lesnar. Lesnar gets in the ring and applies the Kimura Lock again! Lesnar releases the hold, stands over Rhodes, and shouts, “Challenge accepted! I’ll see you at SummerSlam, bitch!” Lesnar walks off to loud boos.

Riddle kicks Gunther’s arm away, but Gunther still chops him. Riddle knocks Gunther to the corner with an overhead kick. Riddle hits a pair of running forearms in the corner before going for an exploder. Gunther fights it and hits an uppercut. Riddle manages to catch him with an exploder before kicking him in the spine. Gunther blocks a kick and KILLS Riddle with a chop. WOW! Riddle fights back with some kicks, but Gunther continues to crush him with chops. Gunther hits a German Suplex. Riddle pops up, so Gunther decapitated him with a lariat for a near fall.

Gunther’s chest is beet red. Riddle catches Gunther with a ripcord knee before hitting a second knee to the face. Riddle knees him in the back of the head and covers for a near fall. Riddle shouts in frustration. Riddle steps on Gunther and goes to the top rope. Riddle goes for a Floating Bro, but Gunther gets the knees up. Gunther catches him with a Tyrannosaurus Dropkick and follows up with a Powerbomb for the victory.

Winner by Pinfall: Gunther

Gunther puts his WWE Intercontinental Championship around his waist and stands on the commentary table. Gunther says they can boo him all they want. It doesn’t change the fact that tonight is the greatest night in their sad lives. They are seeing the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time. Gunther says Matt Riddle is done. Gunther is building a legacy. If Drew McIntyre wants to ride on his coattails, he can be his guest. However, just like everyone else, he will fall victim to the Ring General. Gunther holds the Intercontinental Championship up.

Alpha Academy will battle the Viking Raiders in a Viking Rules Match. Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan will also defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Chelsea Green and Sonya Deville.

Jackie Redmond is backstage with WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan. Redmond asks what will be the deciding factor in their match against Chelsea Green and Liv Morgan. Morgan says they’re prepared for anything. They won’t back down from anyone. Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley walks up and tells Jackie Redmond to leave. Rodriguez gets in Ripley’s face and says, “Not even you.” Morgan starts to talk to Ripley, but Ripley head-butts her down. Ripley and Rodriguez begin to brawl until WWE officials pull them away. Ripley kicks Rodriguez in the knee and knocks her down. Rodriguez looks to be in a lot of pain.

-Commercial Break-

The Viking Raiders and Valhalla are preparing for their match later tonight.

The Judgment Day are in the ring. Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley says the Judgment Day is stronger than ever. Did anyone ever really think they’d break up? Anyone with half a brain cell knows they’re better than everyone. They’re not fragile or shattered because someone’s ego got bruised. Now that no one can stop them, they not only run Monday Night Raw… they dominate it. Raquel Rodriguez just found that out because she is the most dominant woman here in this industry. She is unbeatable as the Women’s World Champion. Finn Bálor and Damian Priest will become World Champions. Tomorrow night, her Latino Heat, her “Dirty” Dom, will become the NXT North American Champion! The crowd loudly boos that.

“Dirty” Dominik Mysterio goes to speak, but he’s booed down loudly. Mysterio says tomorrow at NXT, he will beat Wes Lee… The crowd shouts him down. Damian Priest says all the boos won’t change the fact that “Dirty” Dom will become the NXT North American Champion tomorrow night. All those boos won’t change the fact that he is guaranteed to be World Champion. Priest tells Bálor to take it easy because he gets the first crack at Seth Rollins.

Bálor says he loves Priest. Bálor says whatever Seth Rollins has to say later, he’ll be listening. Rollins needs to remember that the issues they have will never be over until his arm is raised as the new World Heavyweight Champion. Mysterio starts to talk again, but the crowd viciously boos him down!

Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens come out to the stage. A “Sami” chant picks up. Zayn says he has a pretty good relationship with the WWE Universe. Zayn knows what they like and dislike, but just to make sure they’re on the same page, he just wants to ask the fine people of Atlanta if they paid their hard-earned money to come here and listen to Dom Mysterio talk. The crowd boos. Did they pay their hard-earned money to see someone shut Dom Mysterio’s mouth for him? The crowd loudly cheers. Zayn says they’re in luck because Priest and Mysterio will battle the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions.

Priest says they’ve been focused on individual championships, but he sees two titles that would look great in the Judgment Day. If they’re so confident, why don’t they put their titles on the line? Owens rubs his eyes. A “YES” chant picks up. Zayn wants his partner to weigh in on this. Owens looks agitated after listening to the Judgment Day for the last five minutes. Owens looks surprised that Zayn wants him to comment. Zayn says, “Let ‘er rip.” Owens confirms that he can lead with his heart. Owens says he’ll put the titles on the line as long as he gets to stun Damian Priest and put his fist down Dominik Mysterio’s mouth!

Deville punches away at Morgan before the referee backs her up. Deville taunts the crowd. Morgan fights Green and Deville off and goes for a tag, but Deville holds her back. Green tries to get involved, but Rodriguez sends her out of the ring. Deville quickly sends Rodriguez shoulder-first into the ring post. Deville applies a single-leg crab to the injured leg. Video: Jey Uso attacked Solo Sikoa and superkicked Paul Heyman this past Friday on SmackDown

World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins is backstage with Byron Saxton. Rollins says he has big plans for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. The title deserves a marquee match-up. It’s a short list for the challengers, but Finn Bálor has earned a place on that list. So have Damian Priest, Drew McIntyre, and Intercontinental Champion Gunther… Finn Bálor interrupts and sends Saxton away. Bálor says he wants his rematch. He doesn’t care how many other contenders there are. The line starts with him. Rollins knows and Bálor knows that the issues between them are far from over. Rollins should do what he has to do, talk to Adam Pearce, and make the match. Rollins understands where Bálor is coming from, but he needs to stop living in the past. Bálor says he’s not living in the past. He’s living in chaos. That’s how he’ll take the title. He’ll do to Rollins what Rollins did to him. Bálor will hurt him and laugh in his face before taking his career and altering it forever.

Rollins will say this once: the World Heavyweight Championship is more than Bálor’s personal agenda. It’s bigger than both of them. If they want to settle the score, they don’t need a match for that. They can do that right here and now. Rollins tells Bálor to take his shot or get out of his face. Bálor gets up and looks down at Rollins before walking off. Rollins asks if the interview is over. All of a sudden, it looks like Bálor hit Rollins in the head with the steel chair! Bálor stomps Rollins and tells him to make the match.
