Goldust v. Jackson w/ Kozlov

This match saw Goldust lose via Jackson’s finisher in a five minute match. I apologize for my brevity, but I was having technical problems for the first 15 minutes of ECW.

Winner: Ezekiel Jackson

In the back Regal is with Zack Ryder and instructs him to get his act in gear so as to ensure that what happened last week will never happen again.

Sheamus is in the ring and shows a replay of his match against Shelton on WWE Superstars. Sheamus tells the tale of Shelton’s career in the WWE, which despite great ability, has never reached the top of the WWE. Sheamus says that he will be using Shelton as a stepping stone to get to the top.

In the back we see Yoshi Tatsu practicing squats. Christian comes up to ask him if he is ready to go. Yoshi says yes, but he is very nervous and then explains in Japanese. Christian responds with ?that’s what she said?. Christian says it’s time to go and Yoshi replies with thank you in Japanese. Christian says they aren?t going to go through the back and forth thank you thing again as Christian has Japanese peeps and Tatsu always seems to get the last thank you. Christian tries to trick Yoshi to secure the final thank you for himself, but Yoshi still pulls it off. Christian leaves laughing and their match is up next.

Christian & Yoshi Tatsu v. Regal & Zack Ryder

Yoshi and Ryder start things off in the ring. They exchange a flurry of fast arm drags and take downs. Yoshi tags in Christian who enters with an axe handle to Ryder’s arm. Christian bounces off the ropes for consecutive shoulder blocks. Ryder is able to lay into him with a series of kicks and punches. Christian gets back to his feet and dodges a Ryder splash attempt to hit his seesaw kick. Ryder slides to the outside of the ring where Regal comes to console him. Christian hits a baseball slide and then follows up with a springboard crossbody.

We come back and it is Christian in the ring with William Regal. Regal is taking it to Christian and tags in Ryder. Zack lands a kick to Christian’s gut before applying a rear face lock. Christian has the crowd support which he uses to get to his feet, but Ryder sends him straight back down to the mat. Ryder tags in Regal. William sets Christian up in the corner but gets pushed back and then hit with a flying uppercut. Both Christian and Regal tag their partners in.

Yoshi and Ryder take to the ring with speed. Yoshi hits his rolling snapmare followed by a kick. Ryder kicks out of the pin attempt. Ryder taunts Christian which causes the referee to restrain Christian and allows Regal to hit a cheap shot. Ryder then tags his partner back into the match. Regal pounds on Yoshi in the corner paying special attention to his face. Regal hits a lateral press followed by a cover, but Yoshi kicks out. Regal pushes Yoshi to the corner and then tags in Ryder. Regal tags himself into the match which Ryder does not appreciate. Regal tells him to ?do what he is told?. Ryder will have none of that and slings his neck against the top rope. Christian seizes the moment to hit the Killswitch and end the match!

Winners via Killswitch: Christian & Yoshi Tatsu

ECW Thoughts

An interesting night in ECW to be sure. I do apologize for missing the opening match but the cookie just wasn?t crumbling my way tonight. The main event of the evening is worth noting for what is most likely Zack Ryder’s face turn. Now, I thought that we were getting that with what happened last week, but instead they played it off and he seemed to be going along with Regal’s instructions. Ryder has shown that he has no interest in listening to others that want to put their interests above his own. It will be interesting to see where the angle takes him because his gimmick is made specifically to draw as much heat as possible. Everything from his attire to demeanor so I?ll be watching with interest as he makes the transition.

The Hurricane and Burchill match was certainly lacking tonight. In many ways it felt like matches I?ve seen between student wrestlers that were taking extra care in setting up their spots and moves. Now obviously these two are quite experienced and have worked with each other before so I?m not sure as to the reasoning of the awkwardness. I would also like to point out that after praising Katie Lea’s eye makeup for the past couple weeks it seemed to be a bit weird tonight. Go back to the awesome style you had last week and leave the extreme designs to Sara Del Ray.

The Bella Twins have been officially removed from ECW thanks to the trades and acquisitions that went down last night. Makes perfect sense considering the fact that they haven?t had anything to do in quite some time on the show. I only wish that they had moved Katie Lea as well so as to let her actually wrestle. They are leaving the title scene in the air right now so we?ll just have to wait to see what is in store for the ECW belt.
