The Smackdown video plays, and we’re brought into the arena with a rare pyrotechnics display. Tom Phillips, Michael Cole, and JBL welcome us to the show.
Dean Ambrose addresses this Sunday’s Hell in a Cell match
Dean Ambrose’s music hits, and he makes his way to the ring to a good pop from the crowd. A replay is shown of the ill-conceived segment with Ambrose and the Seth Rollins dummy. It was saved by a surprise appearance from Mick Foley. Foley talked about how the match could go on to define both Rollins’ and Ambrose’s careers like it did for him. Back to live action, the crowd is chanting for Ambrose. Ambrose says the laws of physics don’t apply to him. What goes up must come down, but he doesn’t stay down. They hit him with chairs, Chokeslam him, and Curb Stomp him through cinder blocks, but he always gets up. The question becomes, “Why do you keep getting back up?” Ambrose says he could say he is indestructible and can’t be hurt. The truth is it all hurts. His body hurts. Standing up to The Authority can be a very painful thing. The reason he keeps getting back up is the key difference between him and the guy who came out on RAW to warn him about the dangers of Hell in a Cell, Mick Foley. Foley was the “Hardcore Legend,” but deep down, he was always a nice guy. Ambrose says he’s not a nice guy. He doesn’t have a loving family to go home to. He doesn’t have anything else to live for except to put pain on people who have put pain on him. That hole in his stomach, the thirst for vengeance, keeps him moving forward to Hell in a Cell.
This is the day he’s been waiting for since Seth Rollins put a knife in his back and said it was just business. This Sunday, Rollins learns the cold hard fact: no matter how fat your pockets get, you can’t take your money with you when you’re knee deep in your own personal hell. Ambrose suggests is Rollins has something to say about that, then he should come out and say it.
Seth Rollins appears on the titantron. Rollins says Ambrose doesn’t tell him what to do. You don’t call him out. That’s not how it’s ever been and nothing is changing. Rollins tells him what to do and calls him out. Later tonight, that’s exactly what he’ll do. Since Ambrose is talking about the past, Rollins wants to take a stroll down memory lane. Let’s remember how he spoon-fed Ambrose all those catchphrases that he thought were the backbone of their “brotherhood.” Rollins laughs evilly before asking what kind of idiot Ambrose is to “believe in that.” Ambrose thought they were building something special in The Shield, but it was him all along planning his moment. Ambrose is talking about vengeance like it’s some sort of jackpot. Vengeance is cheap and just like Ambrose, it’s not worth a damn. What’s priceless is the future. Ambrose’s future ends at Hell in a Cell. Rollins’ future truly begins when he disposes of him in the Hell in a Cell. Then, when the time is right, he will cash in his Money in the Bank contract and solidify himself as the future of WWE. Rollins laughs evilly once again.
Ambrose says Rollins always had a way with words. When the Cell drops on Sunday, he won’t be able to talk his way out of anything. Ambrose doesn’t care if it’s his last match or night in WWE, at Hell in a Cell, they’ll burn together. However, Rollins will perish alone.
Dolph Ziggler will defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Cesaro later tonight. Big Show will also sit down with Michael Cole about Rusev’s attack on the American soldier on RAW. The Miz and Damien Mizdow will be in action, next.
-Commercial Break-
Sheamus will be on commentary for this match. Sheamus will defend his WWE United States Championship against The Miz this Sunday at Hell in a Cell.
Los Matadores vs. The Miz and Damien Mizdow
Damien Mizdow will start the match against Diego. Mizdow kicks him in the midsection before having a whip to the corner reversed on him. Mizdow comes back with a back body drop, but Diego hangs himself up on the ropes and takes him down with a head-scissor. Diego applies a side headlock, but Mizdow knees him in the midsection. The Miz tags in, and Diego chops the chest. Miz reverses a whip to the corner, drops him to the apron, and snaps him off the top rope. Miz then gives Diego the 10 Beats of the Bodhrán before bringing him in the hard way and screaming, “Fella!” Miz connects with his trademark corner clothesline before tagging Mizdow back in. Mizdow punches him in the midsection before sending him into the ropes, but Diego holds on. Mizdow charges, and Diego hits him with a drop-toe-hold into the ropes.
The Miz and Fernando are tagged in. Fernando ducks a clothesline and hits a pair of flying back elbows. Miz reverses a whip to the corner, but he runs into a flapjack into the turnbuckle. Fernando goes to the top rope and hits Miz with a summersault senton. Mizdow breaks up the pin. Diego throws Mizdow out of the ring, and Miz throws Diego out. Miz holds on to the ropes to counters a Backstabber. Outside the ring, Mizdow throws El Torito into the apron. Mizdow then goes to Diego and applies the Figure Four Leglock at the same time Miz applies it to Fernando. Fernando taps out.

The Miz stares directly at Sheamus as the referee raises his arm. Sheamus holds up the WWE United States Championship as Miz motions that will be his on Sunday. Sheamus fakes getting in the ring, but Miz and Mizdow quickly flee.
Gold and Stardust are backstage. Goldust says, “Ashes to ashes, brothers in dust cannot be broken.” Bo Dallas walks up, and Goldust asks what he’s doing in their room. Dallas says they hold the power of the cosmic keys, but all they have to do is Bolieve. Goldust says, “What a weirdo,” as Stardust hisses like a cat.
AJ Lee will face Alicia Fox in a rematch from RAW.
-Commercial Break-
Alicia Fox w/ Paige vs. AJ Lee
They circle the ring and lock up. AJ wrenches the arm, but Alicia forearms her in the face. Alicia sends her into the ropes, but AJ takes her down with a head-scissor takeover. Alicia quickly slaps her, but AJ quickly applies a front face-lock. Alicia quickly backs her into the corner before hitting a northern lights suplex for a two count. Alicia applies a chin lock, but AJ fights up. Alicia clubs her before hitting a body slam. Alicia brings her near Paige, who screams that she hates AJ. Alicia powers her to the corner, but she runs into some knees. AJ kicks her in the midsection. Paige gets on the apron, so AJ scares her back. Alicia kicks AJ, but AJ comes back by throwing her into Paige. AJ then rolls Alicia up for the win.
Winner by Pinfall: AJ Lee

Paige and Alicia Fox flip out in the ring as AJ skips off with the WWE Divas Championship.

Big Show responds to the attack Rusev perpetrated on an American soldier, next.
-Commercial Break-
In an interview taped earlier in the day, Michael Cole sat down with the Big Show. Cole mentioned that Big Show has the weight of the nation on his shoulders as he faces Rusev on Sunday. Big Show asked for the interview and wants to address what happened on RAW. A replay is shown of Rusev giving an American soldier a thrust kick to the head. Big Show talked about how Rusev despises everything about America. The soldier let his passion get the better of him when Rusev threatened to tear the American flag down. The flag represents freedom, and the soldier got carried away. Rusev took a cheap shot after the situation was stopped by security. The man is ok, but it never should have happened.
Cole mentioned how Big Show tore down the Russian flag. Big Show says he has a lot of Russian friends and has apologized to them. He didn’t mean to disrespect the Russian people. He meant to disrespect Lana and Rusev. Tearing the flag down was wrong. Cole mentions that Big Show has been going overseas for years in support of the troops. Big Show says there is no greater honor or humbling experience than seeing the young men and women overseas. His heroes are those men and women. Big Show talks about how he met a general in 2003 that was so thankful that he cared enough to come over and visit. That man broke down in tears thanking Big Show. They go over there to boost the troops’ morale, but his passion and morale is lifted higher. It’s amazing that WWE superstars have that effect.
Cole brings up Hulk Hogan, his friend, who talked about Big Show’s match. Hogan said there is no one more American than the Big Show. The only way he can lose is if he beats himself. Cole asks Big Show if he can keep his emotions in check on Sunday. Can Big Show do something that not even Mark Henry could do? Can Big Show pin or submit Rusev? Big Show says he can’t keep his emotions under control. He’ll let all the anger and rage out on Rusev at Hell in a Cell. Big Show will knock him out and pin him.
Dolph Ziggler’s music hits. He’ll defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Cesaro, next.

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Cesaro
The bell sounds, and Cesaro quickly goes for a takedown. They tussle around for a bit until the referee calls for a clean break. Cesaro knees him in the midsection before sending him into the corner. Cesaro goes for a monkey flip, but Ziggler lands on his feet and hits a hip toss. Ziggler goes for an elbow drop, but Cesaro counters with a roll up attempt. Ziggler sits on his chest for a pinfall attempt, but Cesaro quickly kicks out. Ziggler then gets a sunset flip for a two count. They trade numerous pins for two counts. Ziggler then takes him down with a dropkick for a one count. They counter their whips a few times until Cesaro sends him shoulder first into the ring post. Ziggler falls to the outside as we go to commercial.
-Commercial Break-
We come back from the break to see Ziggler trapped in an overhead wristlock. Ziggler fights up and kicks out. Cesaro then quickly goes to a sleeper hold. Cesaro takes him down and keeps it applied. Ziggler fights up and punches him. Ziggler ducks a clothesline and hits the ropes, but Cesaro goes back to the sleeper hold. Ziggler gets out and applies one of his own. Cesaro counters with a back suplex, but Ziggler flips through and reapplies the hold. Cesaro then powers him to the corner.
Ziggler punches him back before hitting a pair of clotheslines. Ziggler splashes him in the corner and follows up with a neckbreaker. Ziggler drops an elbow for a two count. Cesaro counters a famouser by getting him up for a powerbomb. Ziggler counters with a sunset flip for a near fall. Ziggler ducks a clothesline and does a head-scissor into a sleeper hold. Cesaro powers him to the corner again to break the hold. Cesaro then hits him with a suplex, all while never letting Ziggler’s feet touch the canvas. Ziggler elbows him in the head and goes for a DDT, but Cesaro counters into a face-buster for a near fall! Cesaro picks him up, but Ziggler surprises him with a roll up for a two count. Cesaro quickly big boots him down for a near fall. Cesaro follows up with a double under-hook powerbomb for another near fall!
Cesaro slowly grabs Ziggler’s ankles and signals for a Cesaro Swing. Ziggler catches him with an inside cradle for a two count. Ziggler blocks a European Uppercut and catches him with a surprise Zig-Zag for the win!

Seth Rollins will call out Dean Ambrose later tonight. We’ll see a 6 Diva Tag Match, next.

Nikki Bella, Cameron, and Summer Rae vs. Natalya, Naomi, and Brie Bella
Brie Bella will start the match against Cameron. They lock up, and Brie elbows her in the face. Brie sends her into the ropes, they do a sloppy attempt at a back suplex, and Cameron clotheslines her. The heels mock the “YES!” chant before Summer Rae tags in. Summer clotheslines her for a two count. Summer takes her down, but has a whip reversed. Brie then dropkicks her down. Cameron rips Naomi off the apron so Brie can’t make a tag. Summer takes Brie down with a spinning heel kick. Nikki Bella tags in, and he lifts her by the hair. Nikki then hits the Rack Attack for the win.

Nikki gets on the microphone after the match. Nikki says after Hell in a Cell, the next thirty days will be hell for her. She’ll be the wicked stepsister whereas Brie will be her little, dirty Cinderbella. They finish this up with some awkward close-ups of Brie’s face.

The RAW Rebound is shown with Triple H bringing up the stipulation added to the John Cena vs. Randy Orton Hell in a Cell match. The winner will receive a future shot at Brock Lesnar’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Footage is shown of Hulk Hogan giving a prediction on the Ambrose/Rollins Hell in a Cell. Hogan said it was a toss up. Then Hogan predicts Cena to win.
Jimmy and Jey Uso make their way to the ring. They’ll be in a six-man tag team match, next.

Hulk Hogan will be live on Monday Night RAW next week.
The Usos and Mark Henry vs. Bo Dallas, and Gold and Stardust
Before the match begins, Mark Henry scares Bo Dallas out of the ring. Jey Uso and Stardust will start the match instead. Stardust kicks and clubs him before taking him down. Stardust hits the ropes, but Jey hits him with a hip toss followed by a head-butt. Jimmy Uso tags in, but Stardust gets away and tags in his brother, Goldust. Goldust uppercuts him to the corner before kicking him. Jimmy reverses a whip and hits a back body drop. Goldust rolls out of the ring to recover. Stardust runs in, and The Usos clothesline him out of the ring. Bo Dallas tries to run in, but Mark Henry scares him away.
-Commercial Break-
We come back from the break to see Stardust clothesline Jimmy down. Goldust is tagged in, and he drops an elbow for a two count. Goldust applies a chin lock, but Jimmy fights up. Goldust pushes him to his corner, and Jimmy clears the corner. Jimmy then takes Goldust down with an enzuigiri.
Mark Henry and Bo Dallas are tagged in. Henry clotheslines and big boots him. Goldust runs into a clothesline and is tossed from the ring. Stardust runs into a World’s Strongest Slam attempt, but he escapes. Stardust then eats a superkick from one of the Usos. Another of the Usos takes Goldust out with a running splash over the top rope. Stardust then takes out the second Uso. In the ring, Henry head-butts Dallas down. Stardust jumps into a World’s Strongest Slam. Dallas then surprises Henry with the Bo-Dog for the win!

Renee Young is backstage with Dolph Ziggler. She congratulates him on retaining his title. Ziggler starts talking, but Cesaro interrupts him. Cesaro says everyone knows Ziggler got lucky. They trade barbs until Cesaro suggests having a match at Hell in a Cell in a 2 out of 3 falls match. Cesaro says he’s going to show up the Show Off. Ziggler says it’s too bad that he’s so damn good.
Seth Rollins will call out Dean Ambrose, next.
-Commercial Break-
Seth Rollins calls out Dean Ambrose
Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring accompanied by Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury. In the ring are tables and some chairs. There are also some tools and a kendo stick on the tables. Rollins says Ambrose came out on RAW and thought he was the only one with a bag of tricks. Rollins laughs evilly and says he is one step ahead of Ambrose. He taught Ambrose everything he knows. Ambrose and the crowd can call him a sellout until they’re blue in the faces, but he bought into a concept that is foreign to everyone. That concept is winning. He is a winner. He is a born winner. This Sunday at Hell in a Cell, he is going to win. Rollins says he may have never been in a Hell in a Cell match, but he is a student of the game. There is only one rule and that is there are no rules.
Rollins says he’s going to give a little preview of what he is going to do to Ambrose at Hell in a Cell. Rollins holds up some handcuffs. Ambrose has surprised him by popping out of some very unexpected places, so maybe he’ll use the handcuffs to bind him to the Cell so he can see the look on his face when he realizes that he has nowhere to run or hide. Maybe a screwdriver? Maybe he’ll use that to deflate Ambrose’s oversized ego and prove that he has been a “screw up” all along. Rollins holds up a steel pipe and mentions that Ambrose said he is indestructible. He’ll use this pipe to beat Ambrose into a pulp because no one is indestructible. Rollins then takes a chair and asks if Ambrose remembers how that felt. Rollins used a chair to prove that he is the backbone of The Shield. They can do all of that or they can finish what they started right here and now. Rollins laughs and says he’ll do what he said he was going to do. Rollins then calls Ambrose out to the ring. Rollins waits, but Ambrose’s music doesn’t play. Rollins says Ambrose is all talk. Rollins laughs before saying Ambrose has always been all talk. Maybe he did learn a thing or two in The Shield. Ambrose is afraid. Rollins gets it. He wouldn’t want what happened on RAW to happen again. The future is a very bright place, but for Dean Ambrose, it is what it has always been: a long ride straight to hell.
Replays are shown of Rollins celebrating on top of the Hell in a Cell structure this past Monday on RAW.
Dean Ambrose sneaks into the ring with a kendo stick and hits Rollins with it a few times before throwing him into Noble and Mercury. Ambrose throws him into the table a few times until Noble and Mercury break it up. Rollins clotheslines Ambrose down as Mercury and Noble stomp away at him. Rollins sets a table up, and Ambrose breaks free. Rollins escapes the ring as Ambrose hits a rebound clothesline on Noble and Dirty Deeds on Mercury.
Ambrose stares at Rollins as he backs up the apron. Ambrose lays Mercury down on the table before going to the top rope. Rollins yells at Ambrose from the ramp. Ambrose then drops an elbow on Mercury through the table! The crowd chants, “One more time!” Ambrose sets up the second table and brings Noble into the ring the hard way. Ambrose lays him on the table before going to the top rope. Ambrose then drops an elbow on Noble and drives him through the table! Ambrose challenges Rollins to get into the ring, but he doesn’t oblige. Ambrose stares at him as the show ends.

Mike’s Quick Thoughts
* Well that was the promo Dean Ambrose should have cut on RAW. Whoever thought it was a good idea to send the guy who is at this current juncture the #2 babyface in the company out on live TV with a mannequin and some lame jokes needs to be fired immediately. Ambrose cut a promo that touched on actual things in the feud. He didn’t lamely talk about wanting to rip his face off or anything like that. It felt like there was actual emotion there. The writing for RAW has been atrocious lately. They could take a page from this promo and keep on this pace. Not everything needs to be lame comedy.
* I liked Seth Rollins’ little retort back to Ambrose, but the guy really needs to lose the Dr. Evil laugh like yesterday. Nothing screams “lame” like a bad guy doing a bad guy laugh. Where is the quality control on things like that?
* There wasn’t much to that tag match with Miz and Mizdow taking on Los Matadores. The mid-card is so boring right now. It’s all just filler. I don’t think I call attention to this enough. It’s stunning the epic fall from grace Sheamus has had from two years ago. From the supposed #2 guy in the company to filler matches a scant few years later. That’s what happens when the current WWE machine builds up a guy: they ruin him. Ambrose, Reigns, and Rollins are on the fast track to getting the same treatment if they don’t speak up and say, “Hey, the stuff you’re writing for me is absolute garbage.”
* Please, dear god let Sunday be the last day for the never-ending feud between AJ Lee and Paige end on Sunday. There are many pointless feuds happening in WWE, but none may be more pointless than this one. What is the issue with them? It was never established that they were friends, so how could a never established friendship deteriorate into a blood feud? I had such high hopes for this feud, and they totally dropped the ball on it. I shouldn’t be surprised. I also shouldn’t expect that the feud would end anytime soon. They’ll probably have a Survivor Series match next in a repeat of one of the worst matches of 2013.
* The sit down interview with Big Show was ok. It was really more of the same of what he’s been saying for the past few weeks. Of course, he won’t beat Rusev on Sunday. Stevie Wonder can see Mark Henry’s heel turn coming from a mile away.
* Fantastic showing by Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro. Too bad for them that they’re relegated to filler spots on the shows that actually count. You’d think with there being no WWE Championship matches until Royal Rumble that they’d want to build up a mid-card title to make it something “must see.” You would think that because that’s logical, but in WWE 2014, logic doesn’t exist… not that it ever did in the previous years either. It’s just shocking how years of terrible decisions on talent have led us to this impasse in wrestling. No one matters. No one can get over. I’m not saying that I have all the answers as to how to fix it, but a start would be to get some people in there that actually know and love the product to write it, reduce the writing staff from like 30 to 5 to 10, and stop writing for an audience of one. Vince McMahon literally has no clue how to book wrestling in 2014. The times have passed him by. Nothing excited me more than when there were rumors he was going to be asked to step down earlier this year. Oh well. Gotta keep on keeping on I guess.
* Cinder-Bella? Seriously? Good god… It’s going to be a long thirty days for everyone. Maybe, just maybe they can come up with some interesting segments.
* There wasn’t much to that six-man tag match. Nothing too exciting in it. I completely forgot Mark Henry and Bo Dallas had some type of feud going.
* That was nice of Seth Rollins to not want Dean Ambrose to feel alone in the awful segment department. Between the bad pun and the evil laughing, just put a line through that one. It was bad. The only thing that saved it was the brawl at the end followed by putting the new stooges through the tables. Still, I need to put this in the simplest way possible. The WWE is in very, very, very deep trouble if this is the way they continue to build up good, young talent. A few years ago you could get away with it because John Cena was in his prime and could carry the show. He’s not there anymore. He’s going to need to slow down eventually. They need to not kill their young guys off with shoddy comedy and bad segments. Time will tell if they figure that out or not.
