Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins sustained a legitimate injury during his match against LA Knight on Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The injury occurred after Rollins went for a second rope springboard moonsault on Knight who then rolled out of the way. As soon as Rollins landed, he immediately favored his right knee and had issues standing and fell to the mat. He then went to the corner of the ring and talked with both Paul Heyman and referee Jessica Karr, as medical staff checked on him. The match then ended with Knight winning after dropping Rollins with the BFT.
Both Fightful Select and PWInsider have indicated that this was not an angle, but a legitimate injury. PWInsider also notes that Rollins was set to win against Knight.
After Rollins sustained the injury, the camera focused on Knight and then on Michael Cole and Wade Barrett on commentary. They showed the replay and wished Rollins all the best. Several fans in attendance at State Farm Arena in Atlanta have said on social media Rollins was helped to the back by officials, which was not shown on camera.
In November 2015, during a WWE live event in Dublin, Ireland, Rollins torn is right ACL, MCL and meniscus after attempting a sunset flip powerbomb on Kane. On the January 15, 2024 episode of Raw, Rollins tore his MCL and partially tore his meniscus in his left knee during his World Heavyweight Title defense against Jinder Mahal.
