AEW star Dustin Rhodes’ 250 pound mastiff, named Beast took home third place in the working group open category at Crufts in the United Kingdom – the world’s largest dog show, per a report from FOX News.
The former AEW TNT Champion told FOX News Digital, “It’s an incredible, incredible show. I guess this is the world’s largest dog show, so, we decided to go big or go home. Amazing, amazing show.”
The dogs in the working group are specifically meant to provide assistance to their owners, to ensure they are safe and protected.
“Beast is really good with seeing somebody who has high blood pressure or low blood pressure, and we’ll go check them out. He’s a very smart dog. Mastiffs are amazing, amazing animals, man.” Rhodes went on to say that there is no other breed he would consider having. “I would never own another breed besides a mastiff, and I’ve had all kinds of dogs over my life and mastiffs are just everything – pure, loyal, loving, just crawling on your lap, hurt your bones.”
Beast’s diet is not cheap, as with a huge dog, comes a huge diet. Rhodes said he spends $200 a month on food for Beast, who enjoys about eight cups of dry food a day, chicken, rice and steak.
Rhodes who said he “never thought” he would ever get into the dog show business, now finds himself in his second year. His long-term goal is to go for the best in show. His team includes his wife, Ta-rel Runnels and handler Terry Smith.
Last August, the 56-year old Rhodes underwent successful double knee replacement surgery. He signed a six-year deal with AEW in February of 2025.
