AEW signs former British Boxing Olympian Anthony Ogogo

Twitter user sittopbomb who was in attendance at Saturday’s Southside 9th Anniversary show in the United Kingdom posted to Twitter that AEW has signed former British Boxing Olympian Anthony Ogogo to a developmental contract.

Ogogo won a broze medal in the middleweight division at the 2012 London Olympics, and then retired from boxing in 2016 with a record of 11-1.

During an interview this past June with the Eastern Daily Press, Ogogo had stated he was “seriously considered becoming a professional wrestler,’ and that he “may join one of the big companies and do some wrestling” because it has always been something he has enjoyed.

Ogogo did make an appearance during the show and knocked out MJF.

Cody Rhodes announced on Twitter Friday that he was en route to the show and “Excited to…Scout, announce a new talent.”

In addition, the Brink of Sanity Pro Wrestling Podcast also took to Twitter to confirmed the signing as well.
