Two former WWE Superstars debuted on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite.
Matt Cardona, formerly known as WWE’s Zack Ryder, made his debut on the show in a segment helping Cody. Cody defeated Warhorse to retain the TNT Championship and was attacked by The Dark Order after, so Cardona ran out to make the save.
Cardona was released by WWE in April as part of a wide range of cuts made as a cost-cutting measure in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. His non-compete clause expired July 18.
Here is a synopsis of what happened, courtesy of Josh Boutwell’s live recap:
After the match, The Dark Order runs out and Warhorse tries to help Cody but they dispatch of both of them. Zack Ryder then hits the ring and takes out Dark Order!
Ariane Andrew, formerly known as Cameron of The Funkadactyls in WWE, also made her debut. She will be teaming with Nyla Rose in the AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup tournament. Andrew has been out of wrestling since being released by WWE in 2016.
Here is a recap of her debut, also courtesy of Boutwell’s recap:
Earlier today, Dasha interviews Nyla Rose but Vickie Guerrero cuts her off and says it doesn’t matter who her partner is because that trophy is hers. Nyla draws her color and it’s purple. The former Cameron from WWE appears and says she also drew that color.
