AEW President Tony Khan commented on having a paid audience for last night’s Dynamite, the first taping with a paid crowd since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
Khan praised the planning efforts and the cooperation of the people. Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida was at 10% capacity. The company hosted 500 physically ticketed fans in masks and arranged them in outdoor seat pods. Khan praised the measures as being a more than 99% safer alternative to the old way of having fans in attendance.
Last week, AEW announced that they would begin selling tickets to a limited amount of fans to attend live tapings of Dynamite. The tickets went on sale last Friday, though the company faced obstacles with tickets being sold on ticket resale websites that put unfamiliar groups of people into the seat pods. Khan said the company would police those websites and cancel ticket orders if discovered.
At tonight’s #AEWDynamite on TNT, we’re at 10% stadium capacity hosting 500 physically ticketed fans in protective masks in outdoor seat pods. It’s different from the old days, but like Drive-In movies making a comeback, this is a >99% safer alternative to the old live experience
