WWE reportedly bringing in Shane McMahon for this weekend’s WrestleMania

According to PWInsider, WWE is bringing Shane McMahon in for WrestleMania 38 this weekend.

The report also notes that there is no word at this time whether Shane will be appearing on the show.

Shane last appeared at this year’s Royal Rumble to set up a potential match with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania. However, just 48 hours after the Royal Rumble, he was removed from the WWE’s creative plans.

Initially, Shane was scheduled to be a regular on Raw as a heel.  It was said he had been pushing to work Austin Theory at WrestleMania, with the idea playing out of Theory’s involvement with Vince McMahon, but that was said to not be 100 percent in place. It was also noted that “there were other forces” pushing for Shane vs. Seth Rollins at this year’s WrestleMania.

Shane was one of the Producers for the Men’s Royal Rumble match, and was said to have been frustrated the day of the show, with some WWE sources believing that came from his ideas for the match being shot down by his father Vince McMahon.

The talk at that time reportedly was that Shane was upset that “he wasn’t being allowed to do what he wanted” and that he was “greatly preoccupied” by his own role in the Rumble.

Sources had believed that Shane took the brunt of the heat for the poor reception to the Men’s Royal Rumble match at the time, and that when the heat for that blew over, Shane would eventually return in some form down the line.
