During a verbal exchange on Monday’s WWE Raw between Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes, Rollins made a reference to Cody’s time that he spent in AEW. Seth said the following:
“You left six years ago and then you and your little friends tried to tear down what I built here, and when that didn’t work, you came back here…You don’t get to take a sledgehammer to the throne and then come back and try to take that throne from me.”
During the 2019 AEW Double or Nothing PPV, Cody Rhodes took a sledgehammer, and had smashed a throne, which was him taking a shot at Triple H.
The verbal exchange between Rollins and Rhodes then led into a segment with pull a part brawl between Cody and Seth. It was during the segment, fans took notice that one of the officials trying to break up the brawl, was former WWE Superstar Curtis Axel (Joe Hennig).
Axel was released by WWE in April 2020 as part of budget cuts due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Axel recently had a tryout as a producer.
