Luchablog is reporting Lee and Dralistico were brought in for a WWE tryout after Lee made an appearance on the August 17 episode of AEW Dynamite. It was said that WWE passed on Dralistico, who recently wrestled at ROH Final Battle and on AEW Rampage. However, WWE brought Lee back for a second tryout and he eventually signed with the company.

Lee is a multi-time champion in CMLL.  He is a former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion and Ring of Honor World Television Champion. He was the Sinclair owned ROH until it was bought by Tony Khan. Lee made appearances in AEW. However, he was written out of AEW TV after his brother Rush turned on him.

Lee made the announcement he had signed with WWE after he and his brother Dralistico defeated AEW’s FTR for the AAA Tag Team Championships.  This will be Lee’s final AAA appearance, so he was booked to go out the hero within the promotion.
