According to Fightful Select Naomi’s WWE contract was close to expiring at the time of her walk-out from the company at Raw on May 16, 2022 in Norfolk, Virginia. Fightful notes that Naomi and WWE seemed excited to extend her contract. It was also noted Naomi was likely headed for the “biggest money contract of her career” before she and Mercedes Vernado (Sasha Banks) walked out of the company, citing creative differences and lack of respect as the Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Fightful Select concluded by saying that some sources who claimed Naomi has maintained positive contact with WWE. However Fightful Select could not confirm this, and if it were to be true, it was kept very quiet. A WWE higher-up source told Fightful Select there has been contact with Naomi, and that they are “confident” she will return to WWE.
Naomi is still currently listed on the active WWE roster as a Friday Night SmackDown Superstar.
