According to Fightful Select, WWE has made additional pitches to WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to appear on the card for WrestleMania 39, but not necessarily in a main event type match.
The report further notes WWE has at least pitched Austin working in a program with LA Knight.
Fightful concluded by saying the following:
-Austin is scheduled to do promotional work for the WWE2K23 video game soon and is said to be in excellent shape.
-WWE has made multiple pitches to him since last year and that the company believes he is open-minded to the possibility of wrestling in another match if the money and situation are both right.
