Orlando to make a bid to host major WWE live event

According to NBC Affiliate WESH 2, Orlando is making a bid to host the 2024 Royal Rumble.

On Tuesday, The Tourist Development Tax Sports Incentive Committee will request $850,000 for the Greater Orlando Sports Commission to bid as a host for the event.

If approved, the 2024 Royal Rumble would take place at Camping World Stadium on Saturday, January 27, 2024.

Orange County leaders have said that attendance for the 2024 Royal Rumble is estimated at nearly 54,000. They also anticipate that thousands of people would stay in local hotels, and the event could generate an economic impact of $28 million.

County leaders did say that if the bid is not awarded to the city of Orlando, the funds would be returned.

The last time a WWE event was held at Camping World Stadium was WrestleMania 33 in 2017, which generated $181 million for the region.
