WWE has announced that Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns will return to Friday Night SmackDown next week. This will be the first appearance for Reigns on WWE TV since the Raw after WrestleMania 39.
Cameron Grimes made his WWE SmackDown debut on this week’s episode. He appeared in a backstage segment with Adam Pearce. Grimes and Pearce were then interrupted by Baron Corbin, who disrespected Grimes for being the last pick in last week’s Draft. This set up the match between Grimes and Corbin for next week.
Grimes is a former NXT North American Champion. His last televised match was during the November 8, 2022 episode of NXT.
Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez will defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against Bayley & Dakota Kai.
As announced earlier on Friday during the Backlash press conference there will be two Triple Threat Matches, with the winners moving earning an opportunity in the World Heavyweight Championship Tournament Final at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on May 27.
Next week’s WWE SmackDown will take place live on FOX, from the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, TN.
