A California pastor was recently shocked when former WWE Champion Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson showed up at his ministry to offer encouragement, love, and kindness to men and women in need.
Matthew Barnett, pastor of the Angelus Temple and founder of The Dream Center in Los Angeles, said the encounter happened when he was in his office studying for a Sunday morning service, when a staff member came in and said Johnson’s wife, Lauren Hashian, would be dropping by the church with items being donated for an expectant mother.
The Dream Center is an organization providing transitional housing and resources for the poor and addicted, among others.
Barnett told CBN’s Faithwire that he went to go meet with Johnson’s wife and help grab the items – and that is when he noticed Johnson was in the vehicle talking on the phone.
Barnett said he did not want to bother Johnson, but then he [Johnson] suddenly jumped out of the back seat and was excited to meet the pastor and others at The Dream Center.
Johnson spent a good amount of time talking with some of the individuals that are staying at The Dream Center, including a mother who is eight months pregnant. Johnson and his wife provided the expectant mother a crib, stuffed animals, and other items in preparation for the birth of her baby.
Barnett said Johnson spent 10 minutes with the expectant mother, asking what she is going through. Barnett added that she was in foster care most of her life, and that this meant so much for her.
Barnett further told Faithwire that he was in awe and deeply encouraged by Johnson’s humility and kindness.
