Reason why Becky Lynch vs. Trish Stratus was reportedly pulled from SummerSlam

According to Fightful Select, both Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus are healthy and available to work SummerSlam. The report states that with eight matches already on the card and WWE being very adamant about limiting the runtimes for their premium live events, they pulled the match. It was also said the match between the two women would have been given a limited amount of time.

Fightful Select further notes because of the time constraints they have set for SummerSlam, the match the decision by WWE was made to book the match for the August 14 episode of Monday Night Raw in Winnipeg. WWE had also considered having the match take place at the upcoming Payback PLE on September 2. Lynch and Stratus were reportedly not happy with the booking changes.

Speaking on Thursday’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the time constraints regarding SummerSlam. He also mentioned that the status of Rhea Ripley defending the World Women’s Championship against Raquel Rodriguez is unclear.

Meltzer speculated WWE could “storyline clear” Rodriguez and they could do surprise match the day of SummerSlam. Meltzer confirmed WWE has a time limit set for the show, which is said to be to three-and-a-half to four hours. He added that because of the set time, WWE does not not want to short-change any of the matches.
