Kenny Omega loses IWGP Heavyweight Championship
Kenny Omega’s run as IWGP Heavyweight Champion for over six months came to a close on Friday inside the Tokyo Dome at New Japan’s Wrestle Kingdom 13 event.
Omega, who captured the title back in June in Osaka, lost the championship to Hiroshi Tanahashi in the main event early Friday morning.
The finish saw Omega connect with a V-Trigger and Tanahashi countered a One-Winged Angel. Tanahashi hit a sling blade and connected with the High Fly Flow to get the pinfall to become the new champion in the main event.

Where Omega goes from here isn’t known. According to a variety of wrestling media reports, Omega’s current deal with New Japan expires at the end of this month.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that WWE has made an offer to Omega, while it’s almost certain the new AEW promotion would have interest in signing him to an exclusive deal once things get going in the coming months.
