WWE announced in a video update (above) this evening that Evolution would be reuniting on the 1000th episode of Smackdown on October 16 in Washington, DC.
Evolution, which was first formed in 2002, featured then WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H, Ric Flair, Randy Orton and Batista.
The group briefly reformed back in 2014 when Batista made his return to the company, including at Extreme Rules and Payback. Batista eventually departed the company to promote his role in “Guardians of the Galaxy”, leading to the heel turn of Seth Rollins when he left Shield members Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose.
Just last week, WWE uploaded a playlist online looking back at some of Batista’s biggest moments on Smackdown. This was interesting timing as earlier this month, Batista took to Twitter to point out he wasn’t invited yet to Smackdown 1000 in his hometown. Of course, he will now be part of the show per today’s big announcement.
