WWE announces The Ascension have been released today, full statement inside

WWE releases The Ascension

In addition to the releases of Luke Harper and Sin Cara, The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor) have also been given releases by WWE on Sunday.

WWE lumped the announcement of their release in with the statement on Harper and Cara, stating:

“WWE has come to terms on the releases of Jonathan Huber (Luke Harper), Sin Cara and Ryan Parmeter (Konnor) and Eric Thompson (Viktor) of The Ascension. WWE wishes them all the best in their future endeavors.”

The Ascension were the longest-reigning NXT Tag Team Champions, holding the titles for 364 days. They were called up to the main roster in 2014 as a parody of past legendary tag teams, culminating with a win against Road Dogg and Billy Gunn of the New Age Outlaws at the 2015 Royal Rumble. They would be featured in an enhancement role for the majority of their run.

Their last televised appearance came as part of the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the WrestleMania 35 Kickoff Show, which was won by Braun Strowman.
