Rob Gronkowski signs with WWE per new reports, will be working as an active wrestler

Rob Gronkowski signs with WWE

According to reports by PWInsider and The Wrap, former NFL Tight End Rob Gronkowski has signed with WWE.

It was reported last night on WWE Backstage that Gronkowski was close to finalizing a deal. This was a storyline specifically timed to create mainstream buzz for WWE and allow FOX to have the story first. WWE has not officially confirmed the signing yet.

The terms of the deal are not immediately known, but it is said to be similar to the deal Ronda Rousey received.

Gronkowski will debut on the March 20 episode of Friday Night SmackDown from New Orleans, Louisiana. Gronkowski will be debuting as an active wrestler and not an announcer or analyst.

Gronkowski played Tight End for the New England Patriots and was a 3-time Super Bowl Champion before retiring in March 2019. Gronkowski is good friends with WWE Superstar Mojo Rawley and appeared at WrestleMania 33 to help Rawley win the André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal.
