The wrestling industry has began reacting to the recent passing of former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard.
Gaspard passed away at age 39. His body was recovered this past Wednesday morning after he went missing while swimming on Sunday afternoon. He and his 10-year-old son were swimming when a riptide pulled them, along with other swimmers out into the ocean.
Gaspard has been deemed a hero, as he demanded that the lifeguards save his son first, which they did.
Reactions include JTG, Gaspard’s tag team partner. The two were best known together as Cryme Tyme, in which they were portrayed as an over-the-top parody of the stereotypical street thugs.

The first time I went on the road with @WWE, @Shadbeast welcomed me with his trademark smile. Our shared Haitian background gave us an immediate connection point and from there he never ceased to greet me like family. You’re in God’s hands now Shad but you will always be missed. pic.twitter.com/sXn2cZm7A9

Never got the pleasure to know Shad too well personally, but I did have the opportunity to wrestle him countless times. He was beyond motivated and as a giant, took precautions to protect folks in the ring. I’m saddened by his passing, his last moments were as an undeniable hero. pic.twitter.com/D8K5NpDxzb
