Cesaro becomes a free agent after WWE negotiations fail

Cesaro no longer with WWE

Cesaro is no longer with WWE following the expiration of his contract.

According to reports by PWInsider and F4WOnline, WWE is believed to have offered Cesaro a contract, but he rejected it. Cesaro was already working on a one-year extension that expired this past week.

Due to his WWE contract expiring, Cesaro will not have to wait for the 90-day non-compete clause to expire. He is free to sign with any company immediately. The “non-compete” clause only goes into effect if the talent is fired, which is not the case here.

According to a report by Fightful, news of the veteran performer’s free agency has been met with “disappointment and dismay.” We have previously reported that morale in WWE is low after a rash of releases over the past two years and disorganization backstage.

Cesaro, 41, has been with WWE since 2011. He last wrestled on February 11 on SmackDown in a losing effort against Happy Corbin. WWE had no plans to push him until he re-signed. One spot that was supposed to be given to him to star in a Gauntlet Match was instead given to Shinsuke Nakamura since Cesaro had not re-signed with the company.

We will continue to follow this story as more becomes available.
