According to The Oklahoman, WWE NIL signee AJ Ferrari has been charged with one felony count of sexual battery. The report also notes a warrant was issued for his arrest on August 3, with a bond set at $25,000.
Ferrari has been accused of sexual assault by a woman who filed and received an emergency protective order on July 5. A hearing is scheduled for September 15.
Ferrari’s attorney, Derek Chance, issued the following statement:
“The Ferrari Family is disappointed by the State’s decision to file this charge,” Chance said in an emailed statement. “We remain confident that through the legal process, A.J. Jr. will be exonerated, as he is innocent and the facts will no doubt prove it.”
Back on July 13, Oklahoma State University dismissed Ferrari from the wrestling team. Prior to his dismissal, he had a 30-1 record at the university, including a 20-1 record and winning a national championship at 197 pounds in his freshman year. As a sophomore, he was 10-0 before a car accident had ended his season, after suffering internal damage to his shoulder.
Ferrari was announced as part of the Inaugural WWE NIL Class last December.
