Backstage notes and news from Friday night’s WWE SmackDown in Memphis

Below are backstage notes from Friday night’s WWE SmackDown, per a report by PWInsider.

-Vince McMahon was not backstage at the FedEX Forum in Memphis 

-Triple H ran the show

-It did not appear there was any meeting with talents at the show regarding the return of Vince McMahon.

-William Regal was backstage at the arena the first WWE event he has attended since officially returning to the company as a Vice President this past week.

-WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler was at his restaurant in Memphis visiting with fans who where their after SmackDown.

-The “Whoop That Trick” chant at Sonya Deville during the Charlotte Flair face-off happened because that chant is a regular at Memphis Grizzlies games.

-Bray Wyatt was not backstage at the show

-After the show went off the air, The Street Profits defeated Imperium in a dark match

-WWE NXT star Tegan Nox wrestled Xia Li in a dark match before SmackDown went live on the air. 

-WWE was selling a “Memphis 3:16” t-shirt at the show
