Staff predictions: WWE TLC 2011

Predictions from the Faculty
WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs PPV
December 18, 2011
Written by: Anthony J. Valvo and Mike Tedesco of Wrestleview.com

Introduction

Welcome to the latest edition of “Predictions from the Faculty” (Season #3). This weekend, we gathered our thoughts for the upcoming WWE Pay-Per-View, as we will provide our selections for WWE’s TLC. The show will be held in “The Charm City”, Baltimore, MD.

The card currently will have six matches (four of them championship matches).

In case you are new to reading these predictions, here is the format. Each Pay-Per-View a few of the columnists on the Wrestleview site provide predictions on who they think will win each match. We accumulate the records throughout the end of the Faculty’s year (in this case, the 2012 Royal Rumble).

What makes this entirely different to others is that you, the reader, can provide your picks for a spot to have yours posted in an upcoming PPV. All the readers have to do is either leave me a message on Facebook, E-Mail, or Twitter. The winner among the “Wrestleview Students” will win an opportunity to post their picks as a “Student of the Week”. (if they outright defeat the reigning Student of the Wee). We all thank you for your participation.

Tie-Breakers will determine standings

To break some ties, I will issue point to Title Matches that are predicted correctly by the staff and readers. There will be four championship matches on the card, so the maximum amount of points to go along with the win/loss standing will be FOUR points. Also, if I throw out oa pick for a championship, then obviously no bonus will be counted for that particular match.

But wait, for the “Wrestleview Students” there is more!

For the FIRST time in our three seasons the students (aka readers) will compete for PRIZES!! That is right. We felt that your loyalty to the article shall be rewarded. However, the prizes* will not be handed out until the FINAL PPV Prediction of the season (which will be the WWE Royal Rumble 2012). So not only will one get a chance to earn a Gold Star and be a part of this game, but it will be for a friendly competition.

*Prizes will go out to ONLY the top three (the most picked correctly and, if needed, tiebreaker points) positions and the worst (most matches picked incorrectly with the fewest tiebreaker points).

Current Standings (as of TNA Final Resolution)

(Note: Mr. V is out of his office this weekend, so the readers standings will be posted on the next set of predcitions, TNA Genesis)

Predictions for WWE TLC

***NON-TITLE MATCHES***

Tables Match
Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett

Jose M. – RANDY ORTON.

Ryan R. – RANDY ORTON.

Dave S. – WADE BARRETT.

Jason N. – WADE BARRETT.

Anthony V. – BARRETT. Usually in Tables matches a fluke thing happens. It does not hurt Orton to be the loser in this match. I say the Barrett Barrage continues with a benchmark win.

Evan O. – RANDY ORTON.

Greg M. – WADE BARRETT.

Darragh O. – WADE BARRETT.

Matt O. – RANDY ORTON.

Jordan B. – RANDY ORTON.

Ryan V. – RANDY ORTON

Jamie S. – BARRETT (Barrett is who I think undertaker will fight and beat for 20-0 at WrestleMania 28).

CONSENSUS: SPLIT. Barrett vs. Orton has been so far a solid feud on the Smackdown brand. In the end, the staff can’t make a solid prediction because of the uncertainty factor. Will Orton win this and be on his way to a great Royal Rumble performance, or will Barrett continue his run as a top-notch superstar. Stay tuned Sunday.

Wade Barrett and Randy Orton split with 6.

Sledgehammer Ladder Match

Stip: A sledgehammer will be hung above the ring and can be used as a weapon once a participant grabs it. The winner will be decided by pinfall or submission.

Triple H. vs. Kevin Nash

Jose M. – TRIPLE H.

Ryan R. – TRIPLE H.

Dave S. – TRIPLE H.

Jason N. – TRIPLE H.

Anthony V. – TRIPLE H. I am not interested in this feud to be honest. I have a feeling it continues after HHH gets a little bit of revenge from the previous attacks of one Kevin Nash.

Evan O. – TRIPLE H.

Greg M. – TRAPPLEH~!

Darragh O. – TRIPLE H.

Matt O. – TRIPLE H.

Jordan B. – TRIPLE H.

Ryan V. – TRIPLE H.

Jamie S. – TRIPLE H.

CONSENSUS: TRIPLE H. Unlike the last match we predicted, this one is a no-brainer. All of the Wrestleview staff agreed that Triple H will get even after the storyline beatdown a couple months ago.

TRIPLE H 12; Kevin Nash 0.

***CHAMPIONSHIP MATCHES***

Singles Match for the WWE United States Championship
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. Zack Ryder

Jose M. – ZACK RYDER just because how many times can he lose to this guy. I expect big things for Dolph in 2012 and it’s about time he sheds the US title. Easily an early pick for a MITB Briefcase holder.

Ryan R. – Woo Woo Woo! You Know It!! RYDER wins first title!! Take Care, Spike Your Hair!!

Dave S. – ZACK RYDER.

Jason N. – ZACK RYDER.

Anthony V. – RYDER. It’s time. The last couple of months was not the time, but this is the right time for Ryder to end the year with a singles title. Let Ziggler go on to bigger and better things.

Evan O. – DOLPH ZIGGLER.

Greg M. – ZACK RYDER.

Darragh O. – ZACK RYDER.

Matt O. – DOLPH ZIGGLER.

Jordan B. – ZACK RYDER.

Ryan V. -ZACK RYDER.

Jamie S. – ZACK RYDER New US Champion.

CONSENSUS: RYDER. At this time last year, Ziggler was in a main level feud on Smackdown and Zack Ryder was an afterthought. A successful YouTube show later, Ryder is now predicted to win his first single’s championship in the WWE. Not too many people have had a more successful year than Long Island Iced Z.

ZACK RYDER 10; Dolph Ziggler 2.

Singles Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Booker T

Jose M. – CODY RHODES because Booker shouldn’t hold a title at this stage in his career. Part of me thinks Booker will win this match by DQ but I hate making predictions based on that as I like to go into it with the mindset that this is PPV and you want clear finishes.

Ryan R. – CODY RHODES.

Dave S. – CODY RHODES.

Jason N. – CODY RHODES.

Anthony V. – RHODES. I think Booker T is in great shape and can give Cody a good 7-10 minute contest if it get that much time. The only way Booker wins is by DQ or Countout, but Rhodes will not lose the title.

Evan O. – CODY RHODES.

Greg M. – CODY RHODES.

Darragh O. – BOOKER T.

Matt O. – CODY RHODES.

Jordan B. – CODY RHODES.

Ryan V. – CODY RHODES.

Jamie S. – CODY RHODES will retain.

CONSENSUS: RHODES. This storyline just happened not too long ago and both did some kind of attacks on each other. In the end, the Intercontinental Champion stays put around the waist of Cody Rhodes.

CODY RHODES 11; Booker T 1.

Chairs Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
Mark Henry (c) vs. The Big Show

Jose M. – MARK HENRY to finally end this feud.

Ryan R. – MARK HENRY.

Dave S. – MARK HENRY.

Jason N. – MARK HENRY.

Anthony V. – HENRY. Both guys totally boosted their stock over the past few months and this could be a darkhorse match of the night. It is a great stipulation and I expect an all-out brawl. In the end, I say Henry benefits from this match more than Show.

Evan O. – MARK HENRY.

Greg M. – MARK HENRY.

Darragh O. – MARK HENRY.

Matt O. – MARK HENRY.

Jordan B. – MARK HENRY.

Ryan V. – MARK HENRY.

Jamie S. – BIG SHOW will be the New WH Champion.

CONSENSUS: HENRY. In another colossal battle between the two biggest men in the company, the staff predicts that “The World’s Strongest Man” finds another way to escape with the championship.

MARK HENRY 11; The Big Show 1.

Triple Threat Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match for the WWE Championship
CM Punk (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. The Miz

Jose M. – CM PUNK although I can easily see him work with Miz again next month at the Rumble.

Ryan R. – CM PUNK.

Dave S. – CM PUNK.

Jason N. – CM PUNK.

Anthony V. – CM PUNK. Del Rio had a chance, but the fans were not with him. The Miz would benefit more, but he just got done being aligned with R-Truth and I just can’t see him as champion yet. Punk is still over with live crowds, and he is a good face for the WWE while Cena is feuding with Rock. Give Punk the title until ‘Mania.

Evan O. – CM PUNK.

Greg M. – CM PUNK.

Darragh O. – CM PUNK.

Matt O. – CM PUNK.

Jordan B. – CM PUNK.

Ryan V. – CM PUNK.

Jamie S. – CM PUNK will retain.

CONSENSUS: CM PUNK. For the second time in this article, the staff unanimously chose “The Voice of the Voiceless” top retain his WWE Championship over Del Rio and Miz.

CM PUNK 12; Alberto Del Rio and The Miz tied at 0.
