“Then. Now. Forever. Together.” The WWE video leads us into the show.

Video: Highlights from this past Saturday’s Backlash France event.

The commentators go over the brackets for the King and Queen of the Ring Tournaments.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis is in the ring. Aldis welcomes everyone to a sold-out Mohegan Sun in Wilkes-Barre. They have some huge King and Queen of the Ring Tournament matches, but he first wants to introduce the Undisputed WWE Champion, “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes.

Undisputed WWE Champion “The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes makes his way to the ring, dressed in a suit. Rhodes comes out to a big ovation and shakes hands with many fans on his way to the ring. Rhodes shakes hands with Aldis and listens to a “Cody” chant. Rhodes poses for his adoring crowd.

Aldis congratulates Rhodes on a successful title defense against AJ Styles at Backlash. It’s never a small feat to get your hand raised against the best in-ring performer of a generation. Now, we must turn our attention to the King and Queen of the Ring Premium Live Event. Rhodes has said he wants to be a fighting champion and defend the title against the very best as often as he can. Aldis invited Rhodes out here to tell him that his next challenger has been determined. Rhodes is surprised. Aldis figured there was no better time to introduce him than right now.

United States Champion Logan Paul makes his way to the ring. The crowd gives The Maverick a mixed reaction as he does so. The crowd buzzes as both Rhodes and Paul stand in the ring. Rhodes says, “So, Logan Paul…” Paul stops him and tells Rhodes to say it one more time. Rhodes repeats, “So, Logan Paul… I think I know what you want to talk about.” Paul says they are going to main event the King and Queen of the Ring PLE in a Champion vs. Champion match to truly kick off “the Logan Paul Levesque Era.” A LOUD “Logan sucks” chant fires up. Rhodes says Champion vs. Champion is a challenge he likes. Holding not one, but two…

Paul says facts don’t care about Rhodes’ feelings, and neither does he. Paul has some facts for Rhodes. Paul is the longest-reigning champion in WWE. Paul claims to be the greatest attraction in this company and had the greatest rookie year of all time. Paul is a superstar. Paul shouts to a person in the crowd with a birthday sign and says he met a superstar for his birthday. Paul points out that Rhodes is a superstar. Rhodes won the 2023 Royal Rumble, but everyone remembers his viral midair collision with Ricochet. Rhodes won WrestleMania, but everyone was talking about iShowSpeed and Prime. Paul’s brands and ideas… his moments. Look who is taking all the credit. Three years ago, Paul and Rhodes both debuted at WrestleMania. A “Prime sucks” chant picks up, so Paul drops some nutritional facts about it and tells them to shut up. Since that night three years ago, Paul has been rocket fuel for the spaceship that is WWE. How can Rhodes finish the story when it’s not even his story? Paul wants to talk about him knocking Rhodes out and pinning him on top of his logo before walking out of Saudi Arabia as the Undisputed WWE Champion.

Rhodes says he bets a lot of people stand across from Paul and assume he’s a dumbass. As fun as that would be, Rhodes will not pretend this is a fad for him. Rhodes has a sense of who Logan Paul is. Paul went toe to toe against Floyd Mayweather. In only a handful of matches, he won the United States Championship. Since they are going over facts, the fact is if Rhodes were to win the United States Championship, that would make him a WWE Grand Slam Champion. Paul goes to speak, but Rhodes holds his arm down. In addition to all the positive things he said Paul is, he is also disrespectful, self-centered, delusional, and cannot go a single match without grabbing the brass knuckles. Paul is taking credit for something that doesn’t belong to them. This is a team. At the King and Queen of the Ring in Saudi Arabia, Paul will find out where he stands on that team. Rhodes holds up his Undisputed WWE Championship. Paul holds up his United States Championship.
