ECW Thoughts

Wow, tonight was the best ECW I’ve been in a long time. We had everything needed to carry on storylines and make some new ones.

The Diva’s match was pretty decent and Katie Lee shows she can wrestle pretty damn and I think she could be a threat to the Diva’s/Woman’s belt if they find away to move her over. The Bella Twins were okay tonight but having 3 divas on ECW with no reason to face each other might result in them leaving WWE.

Shelton vs. Yoshi was purely awesome. I said last week I could seem them making this a long feud and after tonight’s match, I think these guys could pull of a show stealing PPV. Yoshi is like a mix of Evan Bourne and Rey Mysterio and some of his moves today were just awesome. I know many people said Shelton got screwed when he got moved to ECW but after tonight’s showing I think it was a brilliant move as he looked a million dollars tonight.

Ezekiel Jackson also looked awesome tonight. He looked like a monster and a threat to everyone on the roster. His clothesline was probably the best I’ve ever seen and the jobber sold it damn well. I look forward to seeing Jackson come though the ranks in ECW.

Abraham Washington Show was better than last week as Dreamer helped though the promo unlike the Bella Twins last week. Abraham seems to flick between being a Heel and Face but the crowd just don’t know how to react to him. As for his future on ECW, I think he will end up being a manager, maybe for Jackson.

The main event was a pretty good contest and made both Christian and Kozlov look a threat for the ECW belt. I predict Christian winning the belt at Night Of Champions and Kozlov to face him at the next PPV. The only bad thing I can say about the match is that the ending was very predictable when you saw how long it look Christian to remove the top turnbuckle.

Overall, I thought the show was awesome and did everything possible in the time ECW has on air. WWE built up the storylines and it should make an interesting watch for the next few weeks as we see the likes of Sheamus face off with people like Jackson or maybe Goldust and also how WWE will uses the newly returned Hurricane.

That’s all for ECW. Agree with me? Disagree? Send me any feedback about ECW or TNA Epics to chriskismad@hotmail.com.

David’s Thoughts

Hello friends, I hope you have been enjoying ECW in my absence. I’ll be back full scale next week, but I both need and want to heartily thank Chris Kelly for his work and enthusiasm with the ECW recaps the past two weeks. I was unable to cover due to computer issues and he graciously took the responsibility upon himself to deliver WrestleView caliber work. To take a page from Mr. V’s book, I’m awarding you 5 Gold Stars Mr. Kelly. I really appreciate the help.

So how about ECW these past two weeks! I step out and next thing I know, BAM the whole landscape has changed. I also needed to update the power rankings for you guys as they got a massive facelift in light of the draft/trade or whatever that was. But we’ll get to that later.

A lot of people were initially really upset with the way ECW was treated. When I meagerly read the results on my phone during my time with no computer I was chagrined to say the least. I shook my head in disgust, blasted the WWE in my Facebook status, and planned on dreading Tuesday nights. Ladies and Gentlemen, I’m ready to admit that I was wrong. ECW is just as good as she has been since her rebirth.

I have seen young and fresh talented catapulted to stardom: CM Punk, John Morrison, Evan Bourne and Jack Swagger to name just a few. I have also seen older stale talent have their fires rekindled: Mark Henry, Finlay, Matt Hardy and others. It is no secret that I love the current ECW. The mission in my eyes is to act as a developmental area, but not in the way FCW or OVW and DSW were in the past.

ECW has an active role in the WWE Universe. She is present on PPVs (though admittedly often as the curtain-jerker), has matches on Superstars, and gets people interested in new talent. So keeping in mind the successes of ECW, the loss of Jack Swagger, Evan Bourne, The Hart Dynasty, et al., brings a smile to my face. For my “loss” is their gain. I have seen them grow, and I’m excited to watch them prosper.

There is a bunch of new talent, but I’ll hold off the judgment of them till next week. I have long been a proponent of giving guys a couple of weeks, so that’s what I shall do. It would be easy for me to say that I loved one thing and hated another, but instead you’ll have to keep your breath bated for my thoughts on them for one more week. Besides, time is the best court of reason.

Power Rankings

Huge shake-up this week. I have completely removed those traded to other brands, keeping just the pure ECW talent. It’s a whole new world for the ECW Power Rankings, enjoy!
