Did Karl Anderson retain the NJPW NEVER Openweight Title in Japan on Wednesday?

WWE Superstar Karl Anderson is still the New Japan Pro Wrestling NEVER Openweight Champion.

At Wednesday’s NJPW World Tag League/Super Jr. Tag League finals, Anderson successfully defended the title after he pinned Hikeuleo following a gun stun. Post-match, Anderson got on the mic and then cut a promo telling the fans that he is the greatest NEVER Openweight Champion of all time and will hold the title for all of eternity.

Following Andersons’ promo, Tama Tonga came out to challenge Anderson for the title, and both men ended up brawling. Anderson hit a gun stun on Tonga. Anderson then told him that he would see him at Wrestle Kingdom.

NJPW is doing an angle with Bullet Club leader Jay White saying that now the faction has members in all of the major pro wrestling promotions.

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows made their surprise return to WWE during the October 10 episode of Raw, to re-align with AJ Styles in his feud with The Judgement Day.

The title match for the NEVER Openweight with Anderson vs. Hikuleo was removed from NJPW’s November 5 Battle Autumn show due to Anderson and Gallows being booked on WWE Crown Jewel, which was the same day.
